Let's Go OHIO

 On this Stakes Saturday we look at the Ohio Derby.

Thistledown Race 12 {Ohio Derby~G3~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A reduced field of eight will go to the gate in this annual event.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

A good group of three-year-olds will battle for a share of the 500K purse. There is enough speed to create an honest pace. Speed figs are fairly close with two in this race having hit the triple digit mark. Only two have experience over the Thistledown track. Three have raced at this exact distance. All have distinguished themself over a dirt surface. It should be a great race to cap off a fine Thistledown card.

#2 Chunk of Gold (Loveberry / E. West) drops in off a decent performance in the Grade one Kentucky Derby. As such he drops in distance with three strong workouts. He should be well positioned in the tracker pack. This colt has hit the board at the distance. A son of Preservationist, he is 80% in the money from five starts.

#6 Clever Again (J. Ortiz / Asmussen) exits the Grade one Preakness at a longer route and has put in three superb peaking workouts. This colt should be the speed on the front-end. He is the morning-line favorite. A lover of the dirt, he has never gone this distance. A son of American Pharoah, he is 75% in the money from four starts.

#4 McAfee (J. Velazquez / R. Dutrow) holds the second highest (tie) last out speed number and four solid workouts. This guy also holds the highest speed number at the distance. Look for him to track the pace closely. A son of Cloud Computing, he is 60% in the money from five starts.

On the Dirt at Delaware Park for Stakes Saturday

 On this Stakes Saturday we take in the Delaware Derby on a great day of racing.

Delaware Park Race 8 {Delaware Derby~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Stakes}

A reduced field of eight will go to the gate for this featured race on the card.

Past Performances used: Equibase.

There is enough speed to carry the pace forward. Speed figures are fairly close making it competitive. Half the field has experience over the Delaware oval. Three will attempt this exact distance for the first time. It should be a very good race on a nice card.

#3 Admiral Dennis (Machado / B. Cox) holds the highest last out speed number and four strong peaking workouts. This guy should track the pace closely and spring into the stretch. He comes in from Keeneland after racing in a grade one event at a longer route. A son of Constitution, he is 50% in the money from six starts.

#6 Kentucky Outlaw (P. Lopez / Dunn) should be part of the pace scenario. He comes in from Monmouth holding the second highest (tie) last out speed number and three superlative workouts. This colt will stretch out slightly in this race, A son of Outwork, he has a 75% win rate from four starts.

#5 Sacred Thunder (M. Sanchez / Capuano) is another that will track the pace closely and strike in the stretch. This gelding is the horse for the course having hit the board in all five of his races over the Delaware track. He cuts back in distance. Staying on at Saratoga for Superfecta Sunday

 We continue our effort during the "Belmont Racing Festival" and look at a rescheduled Grade One Turf sprint on this Superfecta Sunday.

Saratoga Race 12 {Jaipur Stakes~G1~5 1/2 Furlongs~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A great field of ten will hit the grass in this annual event.

There is enough speed to create an honest pace. Speed figs are fairly close. Half the field will run over the Saratoga course for the first time. All but one have gone this distance. It should be a fantastic race to play on this Superfecta Sunday.

#2 Think Big (Curtis / Stidham) is the deserved favorite seeking his fourth win in a row. He comes in with the highest last out speed number and three solid workouts. He will be in the tracker pack ready to strike in the stretch. A son of Twirling Candy, he is 66% in the money from nine starts.

#9 Ag Bullet (J. Velazquez / Baltas) is a mare taking on the boys. She holds a decent last out speed number and three superb peaking workouts. She will show speed as part of the pacesetters. #4 My Boy Prince (J. Lezcano / M. Casse) comes in with the second highest last out speed number and one sound workout. This gelding should be forwardly placed. Belmont Stakes Day up at Soggy Saratoga

 We look at the third jewel of the Triple Crown up at Saratoga.

Belmont at SARATOGA Race 13 {Belmont Stakes~G1~1 1/4 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A high-level group of eight will go to the gate in this final race of the Triple Crown.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There will be a couple of speedsters to get the pace going. Speed figs are fairly close with five in the field hitting the triple digit in at least one of their races. Only the three top finishers in the Kentucky Derby have gone this distance. Only two have raced over the Saratoga track. It should be a fine race on a rainy day at Saratoga.

#3 Rodriguez (M. Smith / Baffert) will show speed firing fresh having skipped both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness due to hoof issues. He holds the highest last out speed number and three powerful peaking workouts. This guy will stretch out to the distance. As a front runner, he should be able to control the pace in the slop. A son of 2020 Kentucky Derby winner, Authentic, he is 100% in the money from five starts.

#2 Sovereignty (Alvarado / Mott) will challenge in the closing strides of the race. This year's Kentucky Derby winner is well rested holding the third highest last out speed number and three strong peaking workouts. Obviously, he has won at this distance. A millionaire son of Into Mischief, he is 83% in the money from six starts.

#6 Baeza (Prat / Smith) should track the pace closely and get first jump on the pace setters. The third-place finisher in KD 151, he is proven at the distance. He holds the fourth highest last out speed number and three endurance producing, peaking workouts. A son of McKinzie, he is 80% in the money from five starts.

#8 Heart of Honor [GB] (S. Osborne / J. Osborne) will be making his second North American start. Look for him to track and close into a swift pace. A son of Honor A.P. he is 85% in the money from seven starts.

Superfecta Sunday on the Synthetic

 We look at a synthetic route down in South Florida on this Superfecta Sunday.

Gulfstream Park Race 9 {1 mile 70 yards~Tapeta~3 year-old~Maiden Claiming}

A reduced field of eight will launch from the gate in this "Lucky Last" on the Gulfstream card.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

This one comes up a little light on speed, but there are three in the race that should be forwardly placed. All but two will be stretching out to this distance. Half the field have experience over synthetic. It should be a fine race to wager and watch.

#6 Accelerate Me (Morelos / Sweezey) will be making his third career start with the highest last out speed number and two sound workouts. He will be switching from Turf to Tapeta. This guy will be part of forwardly placed crew up-front. A son of Accelerate, he is 50% in the money from those two starts.

#2 Corta Fuego (Zayas / D'Angelo) will be tracking the pace with the second highest last out speed number and two solid workouts. He is also making the switch from Turf to Tapeta. This guy will also stretch out to the distance. A son of Divisidero, he is 66% in the money from three starts.

#5 Imperatus (Meneses / Sano) has raced over the synthetic and will also be stretching out. He holds the third highest last out speed number and two stout workouts. This guy should be part of the tracker pack. A son of Uncle Mo, he is 33% in the money from nine starts.

#8 Prinsipito (Gil / Munoz) is another that should be forwardly placed. He will also be stretching out to the distance. This lad raced over the Tapeta last out at a sprint distance. A son of Lookin At Lucky, he will attempt to hit the board in his fifth start.
