Belmont Stakes Day

A beautiful Stakes Saturday allows us to take a peek at expansive Belmont Park for the third jewel of the Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes.

Belmont Park Race 11 {BELMONT STAKES~G1~1 1/2 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A talented field of eleven will go to the gate in this competitive running of the Belmont Stakes. There is enough speed to create an honest pace. Speed figures are fairly close which allows any of these in here that can get the distance a chance to trot over to the winners circle. Of course all are Triple Crown Nominees, three exiting the Preakness and five exiting the Kentucky Derby. There are three new shooters to make the run. It should be an extremely exciting running of the Belmont.

#7 Irish War Cry (Maragh / Motion) is back in the familiar settings of New York. He holds the second highest speed number over dirt and has put in two strong workouts prepping for the big race. This guy seems to have a good race, bad race pattern going. Luckily, if that holds true, he should be ready for a fine race today. This son of Curlin, should travel close to the pace and get first jump in the stretch.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#2 Tapwrit (J. Ortiz / Pletcher) should challenge as he moves forward in a distance he should enjoy. He holds the fourth highest last out (tie) speed number, a two race progression, and three solid workouts. This lad holds the third highest speed number over the dirt. A son of Tapit, he should be tracking and closing gallantly.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#4 J Boys Echo (Albarado / Romans) could be sitting on a top race. He holds the highest speed number on the dirt and has put in two dynamite workouts in preparation. This guy should also be part of the tracking and closing crew. A son of Mineshaft, distance will be his best friend today.
$1 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#10 Multiplier (Rosario / Walsh) should be in the mix with a couple of very good last out speed numbers, a five race progression, and two superb peaking workouts. This guy is within striking distance of the four highest speed numbers over dirt. A son of The Factor, he is another seeking to catch a swift pace as he readies for the stretch run.

#6 Lookin At Lee (I. Ortiz / Asmussen) is a model of consistency as he finished in the top four in the previous two Triple Crown races. He holds the second highest (tie) last out speed number and two hearty workouts. He should be closing swiftly going into the stretch. A son of Lookin At Lucky, he should acquit himself well at this distance.
