Stakes Saturday in Maryland

A state for Horse Lovers, Maryland, is where we look in on a tremendous Stakes race.

Laurel Park Race 10 {Maryland Million Classic Stakes~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old Up~Stakes}

A solid field of eleven talented horses will go to the gate in this annual event. There is enough speed to maintain a strong pace. Speed numbers are close. Only six in this field have traversed this distance making for an interesting competition. It should be a very exciting race.

#5 Bonus Points (Juarez / Pletcher) might have the edge coming out of a challenging graded stakes race. He holds the highest last out speed number, a six race progression, and three sincere workouts. This lad will be tracking the pace ready to do battle in the stretch. A son of Majestic Warrior, he has experience at the distance and over the track.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#2 John Jones (Toledo / Gaudet) will challenge with the third highest (tie) last out speed number and three superb peaking workouts. This guy loves the distance and the track. He has a field high eight wins. A son of Smarty Jones, he should be part of the front end crew.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#11 Ghost Bay (Karamanos / Bailes) should contend with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three stellar peaking races. He comes out a turf race at this distance and is ready to compete courageously. A son of Ghostzapper, he has hit the board 59% of the time.
$1 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#12 Southside Warrior (Cintron / Trombetta) will be in the mix with a couple of good last out speed numbers and one hearty workout. He holds the second highest speed number at this distance. A son of Warrior's Reward, he should be tracking the pace closely and unleash into the stretch.
