Stakes Saturday at "The Great Race Place"

On the last weekend of the racing year, we take a look at a fine grade one Turf battle at one of the nations premiere race tracks.

Santa Anita Park Race 8 {American Oaks--G1~1 1/4 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Fillies~Graded Stakes}

A very solid field of eight will go to the gate in this annual affair. No speedy types wii give this race a European feel to it as they quicken going into the stretch. Speed numbers are close making it any of these girls race. The feature race on the card should be one of the best stakes races if the day.

#8 Competitionofideas (Rosario / C. Brown) appears to be in good form as she switches from dirt (last out) to Turf and three workmanlike works. She comes in from the NYRA circuit to race over the Santa Anita Turf for the first time. This gal holds an 83% in the money record from six career starts. A daughter of Speightstown, she could be forwardly placed for maximum advantage.
$2 WIN  $3 PLACE  $5 SHOW.

#2 Colonia [FR] (Bravo / Motion) looks ready to rock with the second highest last out speed number and three fantastic peaking workouts. This gal does need some pace, but with this distance she should have a lot left in the tank when they turn for home. A daughter of Champs Elysees [GB], she is 66% in the money from nine starts.
$2 PLACE  $3 SHOW.

#6 Paved (Van Dyke / McCarthy) could go off as the co-favorite as she trims some distance from her last outing. She is the only filly in the race that has traveled this distance. This gal loves the surface and the Santa Anita course. A daughter of Quality Road, she has put in four superb peaking workouts.
$2 SHOW.

#9 Californiagoldrush (Prat / Drysdale) could be the other co-favorite sharing the second highest last out speed number and three endurance producing workouts She is 100% in the money in four career starts all of them over the Turf. A daughter of Cape Blanco [IRE], she has won twice over the Santa Anita Turf.

10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)
A certain amount of parity in this field dictates that we should box these fantastic four fillies.

#8 Competitionofideas  +  #2 Colonia [FR]  +  #6 Paved  +  #9 Californiagoldrush.
