Have a Cigar on Stakes Saturday

On this Stakes Saturday we take in a premiere stakes race in bonnie New York.

Aqueduct Race 10 {Cigar Mile Handicap~G1~1 mile~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A fantastic group of eleven will go to the gate in this annual grade one. There is sufficient speed to maintain an honest pace. Speed figs are fairly close as this group assembles. There are four millionaires in this one, each with a chance to bring home the hardware. Only two have never raced at the mile distance, but both are quite capable. It should be one of the best races of the fall.

#5 Maximum Security (L. Saez / Ja. Servis) should be the deserved favorite as he runs the mile distance for the first time. The DQ'd winner of the Kentucky Derby has won his last two. He holds the third highest (tie) last out speed number and three robust peaking workouts. A son of New Year's Day, this guy is primed and ready to wire this field. Odds will not be great, so a token win wager will be placed.
$1 WIN.

#4 Pat On The Back (D. Davis / J. Englehart) should contend  with a couple of very good last out speed numbers and four strong workouts. This lad loves the distance and surface. He should be traveling close to the pace seeking an opening for the stretch run. A son of Congrats, he is 70% in the money from twenty-seven career starts.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#2 Bal Harbour (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) will be in the mix with a 100% in the money record at this distance from five starts. He has been in the money in his last three starts and has put in three hearty workouts prepping for this race. A son of First Samurai, he is another that should be tracking the pace closely looking for a seam to dash through.
$2 SHOW.

#9 Looking at Bikinis (J. Ortiz / C. Brown) should take another step forward after capturing the second highest last out speed number and putting in four swift peaking workouts. This guy loves the surface and distance. A son of Lookin At Lucky, he has a versatile running style that should serve him well in this event.

#6 Spun to Run (I. Ortiz / Guerrero) is the chief competition to our top selection with the highest last out speed number and two fierce bullet workouts. This guy will challenge on the front end from the opening gates. A millionaire son of Hard Spun, he is 81% in the money from eleven career starts.
