Superfecta Sunday deep in the Heart of Texas

On this Superfecta Sunday we take a look at an exciting mile stakes race in the great state of Texas.

Lone Star Park Race 8 {Lone Star Mile~1 mile~4 year-old Up~Stakes}

A terrific field of nine will head to the gate in this annual stakes race. There is a ton of speed which should produce a frothy pace. Speed numbers are fairly close. A couple come in fresh off of modest layoffs and one comes in off an extended layoff. This should be a highly competitive race. Our task is to cobble together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta Box ticket. It should be a blast.

#8 Runaway Ghost (Elliott / Asmussen) might have an edge coming off a modest layoff and ready to fire fresh. He holds three very good last out speed numbers and three superb workouts. This guy comes in from Sunland Park with a 79% in the money record from fourteen career starts. A son of Ghostzapper, he should be tracking the pace closely. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#7 Mocito Rojo (Melancon / Wilson) will challenge with three very good last out speed numbers and three strong workouts. This lad holds the second highest speed number at the distance among this crew. He too comes off a modest layoff last racing at Fair Grounds. With a win over the Lone Star track, he holds a 76% in the money record from twenty-nine career starts. A son of Mutaddan, he will tracking the pace looking to strike.

#6 Pioneer Spirit (A. Vazquez / Diodoro) might be the favorite with the highest last out speed number and three solid peaking workouts. He comes in fresh from Oaklawn Park off a rudimentary layoff. This guy holds the highest speed number at the distance. Holding a 75% in the money record, he is sure to add to that statistic. A son of Malibu Moon, he should be forwardly placed.

#1 Sleepy Eyes Todd (Valdez-jimenez / M. Silva) should contend with the third highest last out speed number. He also enjoys having the third highest speed number at the distance. Holding a 60% in the money record, he too should fire fresh off a short layoff. A son of Paddy O'Prado, he should be forwardly placed among the pace pack.
