A Wonderful Stakes Day at Tampa Bay

 We go to beautiful Tampa Bay Downs to watch the lads compete for Kentucky Derby points.

A great group of twelve will go to the gate in this Kentucky Derby prep race. All but a couple of them like to be forwardly placed which could produce a swift pace. Speed numbers are so very close that this could come off as one of the most competitive Derby preps to be run thus far. This could be the top race on this Stakes Saturday.

#3 Classic Causeway (I. Ortiz / B. Lynch) comes out of a grade two with the third highest last out speed number and four supreme stamina enhancing workouts. This lad also holds the highest speed number at the distance of this group. Look for him to be part of the forwardly placed pack. A son of Giants Causeway, he is 100% in the money from three career starts.

#8 Shipsational (Castellano / Barker) will be stretching out for this race with the highest last out speed number and four strong peaking workouts. He has the tactical speed to run with whatever pace develops. He will be seeking his third win in a row. A son of Midshipman, he holds a 75% win rate from four career starts.

#7 Make It Big (J. Ortiz / Joseph) will also be stretching out to this distance. He shares the third highest last out speed number and four superb peaking workouts. He is yet another that will be part of the forwardly placed crowd. A son of Neolithic, he has won all three of his career starts.

#12 Kitten Mischief (M. Franco / J. Thomas) gets in off the also eligible list. This guy should track the pace closely. He holds the second highest last out speed number and two solid peaking workouts. Another that will be stretching out. A son of Into Mischief, he is 100% in the money from two career starts.
