Stakes Saturday in Louisville

 As the Churchill and Belmont meets wind down this weekend, we look in on a former Arlington Park Stakes race down in the "Ville".

Churchill Downs Race 7 {American Derby Stakes~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A reduced field of eight will go to the gate in this former Turf stakes at old Arlington Park.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

This is a highly competitive race as all of these fellas have posted speed figs extremely close to one another. There is a modicum of speed that should bring forth a simple pace. On an outstanding Churchill card this race should stand out as one of the best.

#7 Red Run (Gaffalione / Asmussen) should take another step forward coming off a longer route where he earned the fourth highest last out speed number and two quality peaking workouts. This guy will close into the pace swiftly hoping to get the win. A son of Gun Runner, he is 33% in the money from nine career starts.

$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $5 SHOW.

#5 McLaren Vale (L. Saez / Brisset) should be part of the pace unit on the front end. He holds the second highest (3-way tie) last out speed number and two solid workouts. This colt already has a win at the distance from two tries. Another son of Gun Runner, he is 80% in the money from five career starts.

$2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#9 Rattle N Roll (B Hernandez / McPeek) could go off as the favorite coming out of a grade three sharing the second highest last out speed number and a bullet half-mile workout. This guy should track and close gallantly. A son of Connect, he is 55% in the money from nine career starts.

$2 SHOW.

#8 Kuchar (Geroux / Brisset) should track the pace very closely sharing the second highest last out speed number at a much longer route and two sound peaking workouts. He has already one at this distance in his only effort. A son of Uncle Mo, he is 80% in the money from five career starts.
