A Risen Star Stakes Saturday

 Kentucky Derby points are on the line down in NOLA as we take a look at the luck last/ lucky thirteenth race on the Fair Grounds card.

A full contentious field of fourteen will go to the gate in the KD 149 points race.

A talented will battle for the fifty Kentucky Derby points going to the winner. Only one has gone this distance, the rest will stretch out. Speed numbers are very close. There is more than enough speed to carry the pace through solid fractions. The majortiy of the field ships in to tackle the Fair Grounds track for the first time. It should be a fantastic race.

#10 Two Phil's (Loveberry / Rivelli) is one of five that have competed over the Fair Grounds track. He should track the pace closely amping up in the stretch. He holds a strong last out speed fig and two serious workouts. A son of Hard Spun, he is 66% in the money from six career starts.

#13 Victory Formation (Prat / B. Cox) comes in with three wins in a row, holding the third highest (tie) last out speed number and four tremendous workouts. This guy will be part of the speed scenario. A son of Tapwrit, he has a 100% win rate from three starts.

#12 Crupi (Graham / Pletcher) is the only on in the field who has gone this distance. He shares the highest last out speed number and two sound workouts. Look for him to close mightily with a sharp pace. A son of Curlin, he is 100% in the money from five career starts.

#9 Curly Jack (E. Morales / Amoss) has posted respectable speed numbers in his last three starts and has put in three powerful peaking workouts. He has the tactical speed to plug into any pace that develops. A son of Good Magic, he is 66% in the money from six career starts.

#14 Private Creed (Gaffalione / Asmussen) appears to be a Turf specialist making the surface switch. He shares the highest last out speed number albeit on the Turf and show three hearty peaking workouts. Another that should track the pace closely. A son of Jimmy Creed, he is 100% in the money from six career starts.
