Stakes Saturday at Tampa Bay

 Derby preps will begin with a flourish this weekend. We look in on one of them down in Tampa.

There is tons of speed in this race which could set up for those that like to come off the pace. Beyer speed numbers are very, very close. Only two have raced at this distance. Most will be stretching out with one competitor coming down in distance. One will be making a surface switch. It should be a great race.

#7 Dubyuhnell (J. Ortiz / Gargan) is the only one dropping in distance. He holds the highest last out speed number and four strong workouts. This guy is looking for his third win in a row. He should track the pace closely. A son of Good Magic. he holds a 66% win rate from three career starts.

#5 Groveland (Centano / Harty) is the only one in the field not nominated to the Triple Crown. He holds the third highest (3-way tie) last out speed number and three hearty peaking workouts. He should be forwardly placed. A son of Street Sense, he is 100% in the money from four career starts.

#10 Dreaming of Kona (S. Speith / A. Speith) is sitting on a big race with a powerful bullet workout. This colt will be part of the speed collective on the front-end. Having hit the board in his only run over the Tampa track helps his cause. A son of Fast Anna, he is 100% in the money from three career starts.
