Stakes Saturday with Kentucky Derby Points on the Line

 With many tracks cancelling today due to weather conditions we go to NOLA for a good Derby Point race.

A solid group of eight will go to the gate in this annual Kentucky Derby prep.

Despite the modest field, there is plenty of speed to carry the pace forward. Speed figs are fairly close. Half the field has raced over the Fair Grounds course. All have been well prepped for this race. On a day with few races going this should be a good one.

#2 Nash (Geroux / B. Cox) has the tactical speed to stay the course no matter what pace develops. He holds the third highest last out speed number and two strong workouts. This guy loves the dirt, distance, and track. A son of Medaglia d'Oro, he is 100% in the money from three starts.

#6 Lat Long (B. Hernandez / McPeek) comes in from Oaklawn with a decent last out speed number and two hearty workouts. He should track the pace closely. This guy loves the dirt and distance. It will be his first start over the Fair Grounds oval. A son of Liam's Map, he is 100% in the money from five starts.
