Evening Turf in Louisville

 On this Stakes Saturday we look in on an evening long distance Turf race down in Louisville.

Churchill Downs Race 7 {Chorleywood Stakes~1 3/8 mile~4 year-old Up~Overnight Stakes}

A reduced field of seven will hit the Turf in this competitive stake race,

This highly talented field will go shoulder to shoulder attempting to get to the winner's circle. Two millionaires will make the run. Only two have gone this exact distance. Two will be hitting the Churchill Turf for this first time. There is enough speed and forwardly placed types to keep the pace rolling. Speed numbers are very close. It should be a fantastic race on this Stakes Saturday.

#6 Bold Act [IRE] (Gaffalione / Appleby) comes in with the third highest last out speed number at a longer distance and two sharpening workouts. This lad loves the surface and has competed over the Churchill Turf. Look for him to track the pace. A son of New Approach [IRE], he is 80% in the money from fifteen starts.

#11 Anglophile (Cannon / B. Lynch) is another tracker. He holds the highest speed number at this distance having hit the board at same. Three strong workouts add to his cause. He has raced over the Churchill Turf. A son of English Channel, he is 50% in the money from fourteen starts.

#2 Webslinger (J. Ortiz / M. Casse) is the deserved favorite with the highest last out speed number and two sharp workouts. As a lover of the Churchill Turf he will be stretching out to tthis distance. Look for him to close mightily. A millionaire son of Constitution, he is 75% in the money from sixteen starts.

#9 Winning Spirit [GER] (Rosario / Clement) will make his first North American start after racing In Italy and Germany. He has hit the board at this distance in a race in Italy and is very experienced over the Turf. This guy cuts back in distance and has put in three sound workouts. He will fire fresh after a layoff. A son of Soldier Hollow [GB], he is 77% in the money from nine starts.

#4 Stone Age [IRE] (B. Hernandez / Parente) should follow the pace closely while stretching out to the distance. He comes in from Woodbine. This lad had produced some very impressive speed figs among his last three races. A millionare son of Galileo [IRE], he is 40% in the money from twenty starts.

#10 Sugoi (Leparoux / Maker) could be the controlling speed with the second highest last out speed number at a longer route and two efficient workouts. He relishes the Turf and the Churchill course. A son of Karakonite [JPN], he is 66% in the money from twenty-seven starts.
