Lucky Last on the Turf at Ellis Park

ON this Superfecta Sunday we take in a wonderful Maiden race on the Turf as the Lucky last at Ellis Park.

A great group of ten will hit the grass yearning for their first win.

This one comes up light on speed. Consequently, we are likely to witness a European quickening heading into the stretch. Speed figs are fairly close among these participants. Only two have raced over the Ellis Park Turf making the race all the more intriguing. All but one will be stretching out to the distance. It should be a fantastic race to cap off the Ellis Park card.

#10 Half Dome [IRE] (Corrales / McCarthy) will be making his second start while making a surface switch. Excellent Jockey / Trainer stats give him the edge. A strong workout tab adds to his cause. Pedigree suggests he should love the Turf. A son of Zoffany [IRE], he will seek the win and hit the board for the first time.

This gelding is the morning line favorite with a strong affinity for the TURF. He could by default lead the charge out of the gate. #1 Sweet Freedom (Loveberry / Medina) will be making a surface switch and stretching out to the distance. This gelding comes in with the second highest last out speed number and three sturdy workouts. He should be part of the tracking crew. A son of very versatile sire, Candy Ride [ARG], he is 33% in the money from three starts.

#4 Ak Sar Ben Derby (Morales / J.A. Ortiz) is the only one that has gone this distance. He comes in with the highest speed number and two sound workouts. With a proper pace he should track and close gallantly. A son of Tapiture, he is 20% in the money from five starts.
