Superfecta Sunday at Santa Anita

 Santa Anita opens today, and we take in a grade one going long on the Turf.

A talented field of eleven will hit the green in this annual affair.

Every entrant will attempt this distance for the first time, though two will drop in distance. There is enough speed to push the pace forward. Speed numbers are fairly close. Only two will run over the Santa Anita course for the first time. All are well prepped for the race. It is the "lucky last" and will be an excellent handicapping opportunity.

#2 Will Then (Prat / J. Thomas) has the tactical speed to stay close to the pace. She is dropping in distance with the third highest (tie) last out speed number and one dynamite workout. She is solid over the Turf. A daughter of War of Will, she is 44% in the money from nine starts.

#7 Resolve (Herrera / Powell) comes in with the second highest last out speed number at a longer route and three superb workouts. She should track the pace closely and launch into the stretch. This guy loves the Turf. A daughter of 53% in the money from thirteen starts.

#5 Slick [IRE] (Rispoli / D'Amato) will stretch out from a mile distance where she earned a decent last out speed number. She has posted four supreme workouts. This gal loves the Turf. A daughter of Oasis Dream [GB], she is 50% in the money from eight starts.

#10 Atsila [IRE] (T. Pereira / Baltas) will be making her first North American start after racing in France, Ireland, and Great Britain. She is good over the Turf and has put in two solid workouts. This filly should track the pace closely. A daughter of Phoenix of Spain [IRE], she is 42% in the money from seven starts.

#11 Ribbons (Demura / Powell) comes in with the highest last out speed number and three sound workouts. She will show speed. This gal genuinely loves the Turf. A daughter of Liams Map, she is 83% in the money from six starts.

#8 Totally Justified (JJ Hernandez / Meah) is another that will stretch out with a decent last out speed number and four excellent workouts. She should be forwardly placed. A daughter of Justify, she is 36% in the money from eleven starts.
