Three for Thursday

Today we look at three races on a sunny Thursday.  One at Aqueduct and two at Santa Anita.

Aqueduct Race 8 {6 furlongs~4 year old Up~NY~Optional Claiming}
A very nice race with four very good competitors in a field of ten.  January Gent (Dominguez / R. Dutrow) looks very much the best.  He has the highest speed numbers across the board, is solid at the distance and has posted two peaking workouts in advance of this race.  Gold Vendetta (Cohen / Jacobson) shows a decent last out speed number coupled with two sharpening workouts.  Fiddlers Patriot (Napravnik / Weaver) is 100% in the money at this distance and posted a good last out speed number.  Giant Ryan (Migliore / Parboo) could be the surprise in this race as he shows two robust peaking workouts.  Let's play Aqueduct.

$2 WIN / SHOW:  #3 January Gent
NO 10 CENT Superfecta for this race.

Santa Anita Race 7 {1 mile~Turf~4 year old Up~fillies/mares~Allowance}
This shapes up as a nice turf race with two horses head and shoulders above the rest.  Always In Style (Talamo / Warren) had a super last out speed number, is 100% in the money at the distance, and has the best four peaking workout tab.  Samantha's Rule (Blanc / M. Jones) is also 100% in the money at this distance, posted the best last out speed number and has three great workouts to her credit.  Will challenge for the victory.  Boehle (Pedroza / Puype) posted a respectable last out speed number, has a four race progression, and three peaking workouts.  Kristen's Lil Lady (T. Baze / Yakteen) and Tizzy Retsina (Sorenson / Bell) both show decent last out speed numbers and good workouts.  They should compete here for a piece of the purse.  Let's play Santa Anita.

$2 SHOW:  #9 Samantha's Rule
10 CENT Superfecta:  #1 Always In Style / #9 Samantha's Rule / #5 Boehle / #7 Kristen's Lil Lady, #10 Tizzy Retsina.

Santa Anita Race 8 {1 mile~3 year old~fillies~Maiden Claiming}
This is a nice little race with ten going to the gate.  Any one of these fillies can show improvement to take this race.  Pocatello Wild Kat (M. Smith / Fanning) will be coming down in distance after an o.k. last out speed number.  Led Advantage (Espinoza / Kitchingman) will be the chief competitor with the best workout tab of the group.  Mimi's Command (Santiago / Cerin) is also coming down in distance and has posted a strong workout.  Press the Point (T. Baze / Aguirre) has a comparatively good last out speed number with two peaking workouts.  Let's give Santa Anita another crack today.
