A Great Stakes Race Saturday

Kentucky Derby 137 is only 45 days away.  On this Saturday there are a number of great stakes races across the country.  Today we look at the Tampa Bay Derby in Florida and the San Felipe at Santa Anita in California.

Tampa Bay Downs Race 11 {Tampa Bay Derby~1 1/16 mile~3 year old~G2~Stakes}
A contentious field of nine will make the start in this annual KD prep race.  The race has nice equal portions of speed, pressers, trackers, and closers making it a very competitive race.

#10 Brethren (Dominguez / Pletcher) appears to be the very best and will be the deserved favorite.  He has the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two strong workouts.  He will be the one to beat.
No Value

#6 Too Experience (Centeno / Passley) will challlenge the favorite with the fourth highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two wickedly good workouts.  He will be closing fast in the stretch.
$2 SHOW.

#7 Free Entry (A. Garcia / Brown) is another who is positioned to race well.  With the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two athletic workouts, he should get a jump on the leaders in the stretch.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests
#2 Economic Summit (rider tba / Violette) is ready to gallop forward in this race.  He holds the third highest speed number on the dirt surface and has produced three stellar, peaking workouts.  Should be a player in this race.

#9 Watch Me Go (L. Garcia / O'Connell) will be tracking the pace with the highest speed number over the surface and two hardy workouts.  Watch him for a move up.

Santa Anita Race 8 {San Felipe~1 1/16 mile~3 year old~G2~Stakes}
This race will be the scene of some of the top KD 137 prospects.  Lots of speed and lots of promise chasing the Derby dream will make this the must watch race of the weekend.  With so much talent in this field of ten, it is a difficult one to handicap.

#6 Premier Pegasus (Quinonez / Cho) will be the one to watch as he moves forward toward landing a spot in KD 137.  He has the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two fierce workouts.  He has three wins in three races over the surface and loves the Santa Anita track.
$2 SHOW.

#2 Runflatout (Rosario / Sadler) will challenge mightily with the highest last out speed number having raced only once.  He has put in four fabulous, peaking workouts in preparation for this race.
$2 SHOW.

#1 Albertgatti (Gomez / Asmussen) will surprise with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three terrific, peaking workouts.  He is ready to step up in distance and will be part of the speed in this race.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests
#5 Comma To The Top (Nakatani / P. Miller) has two wins at this distance, albeit over synthetic.  He should figure prominently coming off a longer route with a decent speed number and two agressive workouts.

#9 Jaycito (M. Garcia / Baffert) is another top KD prospect and should do well in this race, particularly if the race sets up with blazing speed.  He will close very well with four fantastic, peaking workouts in preparation for this race.

#4 Awesome Patriot (Bejarano / Baffert) will also be in the hunt with a very decent last out speed number, a four race progression, and four hearty workouts.  Trainer, Bob Baffert, will have this guy ready.
