Stakes Saturday Fun

What a fantastic Stakes Saturday!  The DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Tournament is ongoing and we are getting that much closer to some of the premier races in 2012.  Let's sharpen our pencils and get down to it.

Santa Anita Race 9 {Santa Monica~G1~7 furlongs~4 year old Up~fillies/mares~Stakes}
A great sprint race shapes up in this annual race.  It will be a field of seven strong fillies and mares that will make this one highly competitive.

#6 Rumor (Smith / Mandella) looks exceptional with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two athletic workouts.  She is 100% in the money in her seven race career.  There is no question she will use her tactical speed to her advantage.
$2 SHOW.

#2 Big Tiz (Nakatani / Glatt) will be ready after scratching out of  the La Canada last Sunday.  She holds the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two superb peaking workouts.  She press or track her way into the winners circle.
#2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#3 Teddy's Promise (Espinoza / Ellis) will no doubt be the favorite with the second highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and two stout workouts.  She is coming off three wins in a row and should track the pace nicely.  Definitely a major factor in this race.

#7 Sugarinthemorning (Bejarano / McAnally) should be in the mix with a couple of decent last out speed numbers, a two race progression, and four exceptional peaking workouts.  This gal is geared for a good performance and can be expected to run from a pressing/tracking position.

10 CENT Superfecta

#6 Rumor / #2 Big Tiz / #3 Teddy's Promise / #7 Sugarinthemorning.

Sam Houston Race Park Race 8 {John B. Connally~G3~1 1/8 mile~TURF~4 year old Up~Stakes}
We look at this exhilarating night race that has a talented field of seven.  Every horse in the race has posted superior speed numbers.  It should be a great race to watch and wager.

#7 Ioya Bigtime (Albarado / Pessin) looks primed for a superior performance with the highest last out speed number, a six race progression, and four robust workouts.  This guy will pose a supreme challenge to the favorite with his closing style.
$1 WIN / SHOW.

#6 Proceed Bee (Emigh / Becker) a standout at the Midwest's premier racing track, Arlington Park, this guy will certainly go off as the favorite.  He holds the second highest last out speed number and has put in three diligent workouts. This guy should make his attack pressing on the front end attempting to wire the field.
$1 PLACE / SHOW.

#3 Dakota Gypsy (Landeros / Craddock) could be the big surprise with the third highest (tie) speed number at the distance and two hearty workouts.  He is a closer that should race well.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#5 Little Wagon (Walker / Oberlander) should be in the hunt with the second highest speed number at the distance and three quality workouts.  He could also close well in the stretch.
