Coast to Coast Stakes Saturday

Warm weather on both coasts awaits us for an exciting Stakes Saturday.  We take a peak at a couple of graded stakes races; one at Gulfstream Park and one at Santa Anita.  Warm winter racing is alive and well.

Gulfstream Park Race 10 {Fort Lauderdale~G3~1 1/16 mile~Turf~4 year old Up~Stakes}
A large, equally talented field of twelve will go to the gate in this annual race.  There will be limited speed.  Consequently, you can expect all of the horses clumped together awaiting the quickening into the stretch.  Should be a great race.

#10 Silver Medallion (Castellano / Pletcher) has a tiny edge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three fluid workouts.  He should be forwardedly placed ready to rumble.
$1 WIN / $1 SHOW.

#6 Mambo Meister (Bravo / Gleaves) will be one of the many challengers with the third highest last out speed number at a longer route, a three race progression, and four sinewy workouts.  He could track the leaders and move forward in the stretch.
$1 PLACE / $1 SHOW.

#5 Mutual Trust [GB] (Lezcano / Mott) could pull off the victory racing for the first time on American soil.  He ran exceptionally well racing in France.  He has a three wins from five starts over the green and has put in three healthy workouts prepping for this race.  Could be the one to watch.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#12 Kindergarden Kid (Leparoux / Tagg) could surprise with the fourth highest last out speed number, a two race progression and arguably the best workout tab of five stellar, peaking workouts.  He could come with a stunner of a run.

Santa Anita Race 8 {San Fernando~G2~1 1/16 mile~4 year old~Stakes}
Another great race will take shape as eight will make the start in another annual competition.  This race comes up as nicely balanced with roughly equal parts of speed, pressing, tracking and closing.

#1 Prayer for Relief (Bejarano / Baffert) looks much the best with the second highest speed number at the distance all the while being 100% in the money over three races at said distance.  With a couple of decent last out speed numbers, this guy has put in five superior, peaking workouts.  Should track the speedsters ready to pounce in the stretch.
$2 SHOW.

#7 First Strike (Espinoza / Diodoro) looks ready to tackle this solid field with a couple of good last out speed numbers and four superb, peaking workouts.  He should be forwardly placed set up for an exquisite stretch run.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#8 Tapizar (Nakatani / Asmussen) will be the deserved favorite not offering much wagering value.  He should be the speed of the race attempting to hold off all challengers.  This guy has the highest last out speed number, the highest speed number at this distance, and has put in five excellent, peaking workouts. He will be a force to be reckoned with.

#5 Irish Art (Rosario / Gaines) will be in the thick of the competition with the second highest last out speed number, albeit over Turf.  He is working on a two race progression and has put in two solid workouts.  This colt could surprise.
