Stakes Saturday on Kentucky Turf

Off we go to where some of the best Turf contests take place for our Stakes Saturday race.

Kentucky Downs Race 9 {Calumet Farm Kentucky Turf Cup~G3~1 1/2 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A stellar field of nine will take to the Kentucky grass in this Turf battle. There is no speed to speak of in this classic distance, so expect a rowdy quickening heading for home. Speed numbers are fairly close with all these guys, except one, hitting a triple digit in their careers. It should be one of the most exciting races on the day.

#6 Power Foot (Graham / Drysdale) could be sitting on a top performance as he checks in after a decent run in a higher level graded stakes race. He holds the highest speed number at the distance and has put in two robust workouts in preparation. This lad is one of only three that have run over the unique Kentucky Downs course. A son of Powerscourt [GB], he should track the pace closely and swing into the stretch with fervor.
$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $5 SHOW.

#3 Seve's Road (Prat / D'Amato) should challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number and two superb workouts. He also holds the fourth highest speed number at the distance couple with a 100% in the money record at same. A son of Quality Road, he will be in the tracking pack.
$2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#2 Bullards Alley (Pedroza / Glyshaw) could surprise with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two excellent workouts. He holds the second highest speed number over the KD course. This son of Flower Alley, could be motoring near the front end as he poses a touch of speed.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#7 Da Big Hoss (Geroux / Maker) is the horse to beat with the second highest last out speed number at much longer distance and two hearty workouts. This lad is 80% in the money at this distance from five starts. He competes here trying for his fourth win in a row. This son of Lemon Drop Kid has already notched a win over the KD course and should take up a tracking position.
