Stakes Saturday near the San Gabriels

Stakes Saturday rolls in with a bunch of excellent Stakes races to choose from. We take a look at Classic Turf race for the girls.

Santa Anita Park Race 8 {Rodeo Drive~G1~1 1/4 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Graded Stakes}

A contentious field of twelve will take to the green looking for some significant purse money. There is enough speed to keep the pace humming. Speed numbers are so very close that any of these girls could pull off the victory. It should be a fantastic race.

#13 Elektrum [IRE] (Espinoza / Sadler) might have the edge with the second highest (4-way tie) last out speed number and two superb workouts. She has hit the board in both of her two tries at this distance. Expect this daughter of High Chaparral [IRE] to turn on the speed coming into the stretch.
$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $5 SHOW.

#4 Avenge (Prat / Mandella) will be stretching out to this distance which should allow her to take another stride forward. She will be seeking her third win in a row. This gal holds the highest last out speed number and two strong workouts. A daughter of War Front, she should be forwardly placed ready to strike.
$2 PLACE  / $3 SHOW.

#2 Frenzified [GB] (Gonzalez / Cassidy) should challenge having already been in the money twice at this distance in only two tries. Both money producers were across the pond. She shares the second highest last out speed fig, is working a two race progression, and has put in four ferocious workouts. This daughter of Yeats [IRE], should track the pace and launch into the stretch.
$2 SHOW.

#12 Zipessa (Geroux / Stidham) will contend with the third highest last out speed number and four highly fortified workouts. She should be near the front end seeking her fifth career win. This daughter of City Zip has the third highest career in the money record (75%) of this group.
