Furlong Friday at Fair Grounds

On the eve of the great Louisiana Derby we take a look at some prime Louisiana equines for Furlong Friday.

Fair Grounds Race 7 {6 Furlongs~4 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~LA~Claiming}

A great group of nine will go to the gate in this sprint. There is sufficient speed to keep the pace rolling. Speed numbers are very, very close making it a supremely competitive contest. Half the field is coming out of a little more challenging races. It should be an excellent race with any of these gals having a chance to strut in the winners circle.

#9 Blessed Song (Broussard / Reeves) is the only gal who has not ran over the Fair Grounds track, but comes into this race with a solid record. She holds the second highest last out speed number at a slightly longer sprint. This gal will be tracking the pace ready to strike in the stretch.
$1 WIN  /  $2 SHOW.

#6 Our Golden Girl (Geroux / Ladner) should challenge with the highest last out speed number and a two race progression. She loves the surface, distance and track which adds to her appeal. This gal should be tracking the pace closely ready to spring.

#4 Crimson Feline (Graham / C. Richards) should be able to compete well with the fourth highest last out speed number and a two race progression. She a specialist over the track and distance. She should be tracking the pace seeking to sprout in the stretch.

#5 Catherine's Dream (Beschizza / Mouton) should be in the mix with a dull effort over the turf last out, but solid efforts over the dirt. She fits in this field well with the third highest speed number at the distance and three superb peaking workouts. Another tracker that should be part of the quickening crew coming into the turn.
