Louisiana Derby Stakes Saturday

One of the big Kentucky Derby preps launches down in New Orleans on this Stakes Saturday.

Fair Grounds Race 11 {Twinspires Louisiana Derby~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A talented crop of ten will go to the gate in this annual Derby prep. There is a plethora of speed which could produce a pace melt down. Speed numbers are very close making for quite a competitive event. All but one are Triple Crown nominees. The entire field will be stretching out to this longer route distance. It should be an extremely exciting race with KD 144 only forty-two days away.

#7 Snapper Sinclair (J. Ortiz / Asmussen) has the tactical speed to let the leaders roll out ferociously while he gets first jump heading into the stretch. He holds the highest (three-way tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and two sound workouts. A son of City Zip, has hit the board twice in his two attempts over the Fair Grounds track.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#4 Givemeaminit (Castellano / D. Stewart) looks to take another step forward as he stretches out to this distance.  He holds the fourth highest last out speed number and three robust workouts. He has the speed numbers to stay with this crew. A son of Star Guitar, he will be tracking the pace and move smoothly into the stretch.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#10 Dark Templar (Geroux / Walsh) should challenge as he continues to improve. He holds a couple of good last out speed numbers, a three race progression, and three superb, peaking workouts. A son of Tapit, he has the tactical speed to feel out the pace.
