150th Running of the Belmont Stakes

A gorgeous day at beautiful and bountiful Belmont Park for the 150th running of the Belmont Stakes.

Belmont Park Race 11 {BELMONT STAKES~G1~1 1/2 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A highly talented field of ten will go to the gate in the third jewel of the Triple Crown. All eyes will be on Justify as he tries to become a Triple Crown winner. There is some speed and a clump of horses will race just off it. Speed numbers are wide and varied as many of these fellas are still acclimating to the game. None of these guys has gone this distance making it truly the test of a Champion. It will be a pulse pounding race.

#1 Justify (Smith / Baffert) has a good chance to become a Triple Crown winner. He holds the highest last out speed number and two strong workouts. It is his race to lose. This son of Scat Daddy is the most accomplished and capable horse in the field to win it. He will be seeking his sixth win in a row. His odds will not be great. Accordingly we will make a token win wager.
$1 WIN.

#4 Hofburg (I. Ortiz / Mott) is one of two in here that the distance will not be any trouble at all. In fact he will relish it. Holding the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and three superb peaking workouts, this lad could be a serious threat to Justify's Triple Crown bid. A son of Tapit, whose progeny love winning the Belmont, he should be closing gallantly over the dirt. He will be making his fifth career start.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#8 Vino Rosso (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) could also threaten with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and two very sound workouts. This guy does hold the second highest speed number of this field. A son of Curlin, he should track the pace closely and spurt into the stretch battling on.
$2 SHOW.

#7 Tenfold (Santana / Asmussen) is yet another developing colt that should continue to show great improvement. He holds the third highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and two hearty workouts. Another son of Curlin, he should be close to the pace and not have any problem making the distance.
$1 SHOW.

#6 Gronkowski (J. Ortiz / C. Brown) comes in from across the pond after successfully racing in Great Britain. His Time Form rating are on par with the other challengers here and has worked two stout workouts prepping for his first dirt race. This son of Lonhro [AUS] comes into the race with four races in a row. He could be a factor in the race.
