Happy Haskell Day

A beautiful day along the Jersey shore where the big race of the day will be run.

Monmouth Park Race 12 {Haskell Invitational~G1~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A short field of seven hard charging lads will compete in one of the best races of the summer. There is enough speed to maintain and honest pace. Speed numbers are fairly close with a few in here still showing improvement. Our task is to stitch together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta Box ticket. It should be a very exciting race.

#6 Good Magic (J. Ortiz / C. Brown) is the class of the field and will undoubtedly be the deserved favorite. He battled eventual Triple Crown winner, Justify, in Kentucky and Maryland before taking some well needed rest. This son of Curlin is fresh to post his best in this race. He holds the highest last out speed number and has put in four high octane workouts.

#4 Core Beliefs (Prat / Eurton) is coming into his own and will no doubt pose the biggest threat to the favorite. He holds the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and three robust workouts. A son of Quality Road, he is 100% in the money from six career starts.

#1 Lone Sailor (Bravo / Amoss) will be charging late for a piece of the purse pie. He shares the second highest last out speed number, is working a three race progression, and has put in two studly workouts. This son of Majestic Warrior, has this particular distance in his wheel-house.

#7 Golden Brown (Rendon / McBurney) is poised to run an outstanding race with a couple of good last out speed numbers, a four race progression, and two stout workouts. He is experienced over the Monmouth track and shares the second best career in the money record at 85%. A son of Offlee Wild, he is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
