In Pursuit of Derby Points at Magnificent Keeneland

The first Stakes Saturday in April holds a plethora of high quality Stakes races on the docket. Today we take a look at a fantastic race in the Bluegrass State of Kentucky.

Keeneland Race 10 {Toyota Bluegrass Stakes~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A full field of fourteen will enter the gate in pursuit of a million dollar purse and Kentucky Derby points. There is enough speed to maintain an honest pace. Speed numbers are fairly close as each one of these lads continue to improve. All but two have been nominated to the Triple Crown. Only six in this field have gone this distance on dirt, synthetic or turf. It could be the most exciting of the three Kentucky Derby preps racing today.

#8 WIn Win Win (I. Ortiz / Trombetta) looks to take another step closer in securing a spot in KD 145. He holds the second highest (tie) last out speed number and two superb workouts. This lad has hit the board in all five of his career starts. A son of Hat Trick [JPN], he should be tracking the pace closely and strike in the stretch.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#3 Signalman (B. Hernandez / McPeek) appears ready to roll with the second highest speed number over dirt and three powerful workouts. He is familiar with the Keeneland oval having been in the money in one start over it. A well traveled son of General Quarters, he should track and close swiftly.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#1 Somelikeithotbrown (Gaffalione / Maker) should challenge with the third highest last out speed number and two super strong workouts. This guy should display speed from the opening gate. He makes his move from synthetic to dirt with a win at the distance last out. A son of Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown, he is 85% in the money from seven career starts.
$1 SHOW.

#9 Sir Winston (Leparoux / M. Casse) could surprise with the highest speed number at the distance as well as the fourth highest last out speed number. He has put in two hearty workouts prepping for this race. A son of Awesome Again, he should be another in the crew tracking the pace closely.
