Stakes Saturday at Keeneland

Today we take in a classic Turf race at beautiful Keeneland.

Keeneland Race 9 {Dixiana Elkhorn~G2~1 1/2 mile~4 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A great field of ten will take to the Turf in this annual event. There is some speed to maintain an honest pace at this longer distance. Speed figs are fairly close which should make it a relatively competitive event. The Turf is considered yielding at the time of this post. It should be a fantastic race.

#10 Zulu Alpha (J. Ortiz / Maker) should go off as the favorite as he seeks his fourth win in a row. He holds the third highest (tie) last out speed number and four supremely good peaking workouts. This son of Street Cry [IRE] should be tracking the pace and rally in the stretch.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#5 Canessar [FR] (Lynch / Delacour) will challenge sharing the third highest last out speed fig and putting in a solid workout. He also shares the second highest speed number at the distance with our top pick. A son of Kendargent [FR], he is another that will track and quicken into the stretch.
$1 PLACE  / $2 SHOW.

#8 Red Knight (L. Saez / Mott) should contend coming off a "marathon" distance race in his last scoring the second highest last out speed number. He has put in four quality peaking workouts in the last thirty days. This lad has the highest in the money record of the group at 81% from eleven career starts. A son of Pure Prize, he too will be tracking the pace.
$1 SHOW.

#4 Soglio (Geroux / Maker) will be in the mix with three good last out speed numbers and two hearty workouts. This lad has secure one victory at this distance from two tries. He does well over yielding sod. A son of Scat Daddy, he should be close to the pace and get first run on the leaders.
