Stakes Saturday at Saratoga

After a brief respite we are back in action as we take a look at one of the top Summer graded stakes races at "the Spa".

Saratoga Race 11 {Woodward~G1~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old Up~graded Stakes}

A great group of nine will go to the gate in this annual contest. There is enough speed signed on to guarantee an honest pace. Speed numbers are fairly close with most in the triple digits. Two millionaires join the battle for victory. It should be one of the most exciting races of the Labor day weekend racing action.

#5 Preservationist (Alvarado / Jerkens) might have a slight edge with three top flight last out speed figs and four supreme peaking workouts. This lad is an impressive 88% in the money from nine career starts. A son of Arch, he should be tracking the pace closely and launch into the stretch.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  / $3 SHOW.

#9 Tom's d'Etat (I. Ortiz / Stall) should take another step forward with the second highest last out speed number and two sound workouts. This guy loves the surface and distance. He could be part of the pace scenario. A son of Smart Strike, he has a strong 76% in the money record from thirteen career starts.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#3 Vino Rosso (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) is fine tuned to make a significant impact in the race. His last three speed figs fit in this group well and he has one powerful bullet workout. This guy is 100% in the money at this distance. A millionaire son of Curlin, he should be tracking the pace ready to make his move.
$1 SHOW.

#7 Yoshida [JPN] (Rosario / Mott) will probably go off as the favorite with the highest last out speed number and two hearty workouts. This guy also holds the highest speed number at the distance. A millionaire son of Hearts Cry [JPN], he will be closing in on the leaders coming into the stretch.

$1 Saturday Exacta Wheel ($3.00)

#5 Preservationist  /  #9 Tom's d'Etat,  #3 Vino Rosso, #7 Yoshida [JPN].

10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)

#5 Preservationist  +  #9 Tom's d'Etat  +  #3 Vino Rosso  +  #7 Yoshida [JPN].

Our Last Superfecta Sunday (8/18) Results
Century Mile R10.  Canadian Derby--G3.  We misfired on our 10 CENT Superfecta box attempt, only grabbing two of the four wagering interests required to score. Superfecta went 6-7-8-1.
Our Bronze Horseshoe runner, Journeyman, finished 2nd for show money of $4.80.
Bankroll dips to $6.37.  We will give it a Hamilton supplement for today's race.
