Nothing Better than the Bluegrass of Kentucky

Stakes Saturday and we are on the road to KD 146 as we take in a fantastic graded stakes race in the great state of Kentucky.

Keeneland {Bluegrass Stakes~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A lucky field of thirteen will enter the gate in this annual Kentucky Derby prep race. There is sufficient speed to move the pace through relatively quick fractions. Speed figures are very close giving any one of these horses a chance to pull off the victory. One filly, #7 Swiss Skydiver, is the morning line favorite seeking to become the first gal to win this historic race. This should be the most exciting race of the day.

#10 Rushie (Castellano / McCarthy) looks to topple this field with the second highest last out speed number and three dynamic workouts. This guy has hit the board in his last three and is 80% in the money from five career starts. He also holds the highest speed number at the distance. A son of Liam's Map, has the tactical speed to settle into whatever pace develops.
$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $5 SHOW.

#3 Art Collector (B. Hernandez / Drury) will be making his third start of his form cycle and should do well on the stretch out. He holds the highest last out speed number and has put in one solid workout. This guy seeks to make it three wins in a row while holding a 57% in the money record from seven starts. A son of Bernardini, guy should be racing close to the pace ready to launch into the stretch.
$2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#7 Swiss Skydiver (M. Smith  /  McPeek) is the aforementioned filly in the race seeking her fourth win in a row, however against the boys. She holds the third highest last out speed number and three powerful peaking workouts. This lass is 85% in the money from seven career starts. A daughter of Daredevil, she should be the speed of the race. Another that will be stretching out to this distance.
$2 SHOW.

#1 Shivaree (J. Velazquez / Nicks) should contend with the fourth highest last out speed number and three fine workouts. He also holds the second highest (tie) speed number at the distance. This guy comes in as the most experienced runner in the field having compiled a 73% in the money record from eleven starts. A son of Awesome of Course, he is another that will be following the race closely.
