Up North for a Grade 2 on Stakes Saturday

 Another great Stakes Saturday with fabulous stakes races from coast to coast. We go North for a graded stakes mile on the Turf.

Woodbine Race 9 {King Edward Stakes~G2~1 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A superb cast of eleven will hit the Woodbine Turf in this annual contest.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There are plenty of speedsters and forwardly placed types to create a sizzling pace. Speed numbers are fairly close with a few standouts ready for battle. Only two have not covered the Woodbine turf. It looks to be a fantastic and competitive race.

#1 Pao Alto [FR] (R. Hernandez / Motion) comes in from Laurel and will run over the Woodbine course for the first time. He holds the highest last out speed number at a longer route and two sound workouts. This gelding will track the pace and strike in the stretch. A son of Intello [GER], he is 60% in the money from twenty-three starts.

$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $5 SHOW.

#6 Shirl's Speight (Wilson / Attfield) is the deserved favorite with the highest speed number at the distance and four powerful workouts. He will track the pace and will move forward through the stretch. The lone millionaire in the field. A son of Speightstown, he is 50% in the money from sixteen career starts.

$2 PLACE /  $3 SHOW.

#7 Treason (Kimura / J. Carroll) has the tactical speed to stay the course as the pace develops. He holds the second highest last out speed number and four stellar workouts. This lad has cobbled together triple digit speed figs in his last three races. A son of Constitution, he is 50% in the money from eight career starts.

$2 SHOW.

#5 War Bomber [IRE] (Walcott / McKnight) holds the third highest (tie) last out speed number and one good workout. He should be part of the pace scenario. Two wins at the distance adds to his luster. A son of War Front, he is 62% in the money form eighteen career starts.
