Another New Day at Santa Anita

To close out the horse racing weekend we look at a downhill Turf race at beautiful Santa Anita.

Santa Anita Race 2 {Monrovia~G3~6 1/2 furlongs~downhill~Turf~4 year old Up~fillies/mares~Stakes}
A great group of eight fillies are expected to make the start in this race.  Rain threatens to take this off the Turf, but let's hope for the best.  Unzip Me (Bejarano / Jones) is the clear favorite with three wins in four tries at the downhill distance.  She holds the third highest last out speed number and has put in three favorable workouts.  Broken Dreams (Gomez / Proctor) appears to be ready for this contest with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and three terrific, peaking workouts.  La Nez (Talamo / Kruljac) will be the surprise with a decent last out speed number, a two race progression, and three well-built, peaking workouts.  Evening Jewel (Espinoza / Cassidy) will attempt to challenge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three solid, peaking workouts.  Lilly Fa Pootz (Rosario / Hollendorfer) can be counted on to be in the mix with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and four fantastic, peaking workouts.  Let's give a downhill try at Santa Anita.

$2 WIN:  #4 Unzip Me.
$2 SHOW:  #1 Broken Dreams.
$2 SHOW:  #3 La Nez.
10 CENT Superfecta:  #4 Unzip Me / #1 Broken Dreams / #3 La Nez / #2 Evening Jewel, #5 Lilly La Pootz.

Saturday's Results
Calder Race Course R10. Stage Door Betty. Our first pick, Funny Moon, finished last (11th).  Our second pick, Toocleverforwords, won (1st) for place money of $2.40 and show money of $1.90.  Superfecta went 1-10-8-6.
Santa Anita R3. Robert Frankel.  Our first pick, Eclair de Lune, scratched.  Our second pick, Spring Style [IRE], won (1st).  Due to the scratch there was not show wagering.  Also, no 10 CENT Superfecta in this race due to the very small field.
Bankroll shaved a dime to $22.25.
