Turf Stakes Saturday

The beautiful thing about Saturday's is that there are plenty of wonderful stakes races on Saurtday's.  Today we look at an exciting classic Turf race at Churchill Downs and a great Turf mile at Hollywood Park.

Churchill Downs Race 10 {Louisville Handicap~G3~1 1/2 mile~Turf~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A fabulous field of ten will make the start in this annual stakes race.  A somewhat modest pace can be expected allowing for the entire field to battle it out in the stretch.  These classic Turfers will compete in a superbly exciting race.

#4 Keertana (Lezcano / Proctor) appears to have the edge with the highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and two snappy workouts.  He should be closing fast.

#10 Musketier [GER] (Castanon / Attfield) will challenge mightily sharing the highest last out speed number and putting in two athletic workouts.  He shares the highest speed number at the distance as well as being 60% in the money at this distance over ten races.

#2 Simmard (Bridgmohan / Attfield) should also put forth a strong challenge with the second highest (tie) last out speed number and two fierce workouts.  He also shares the highest speed number at the distance.

Other Wagering Interests

#5 Dark Cove (Cruz / McPeek) will be in the hunt sharing the second highest last out speed number, holding a three race progression, and putting in two hearty workouts.

#9 Bearpath (Lenclud / Wilkes) looks to grab a piece of the purse pie with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and three solid workouts.

#7 Free Fighter (Borel / Reavis) could surprise having the third highest speed number at the distance, holding a two race progression, and putting in four stamina inducing workouts.

#4 Keertana, #10 Musketier / #4, #10 / #2 Simmard, #5 Dark Cove / #9 Bearpath, #7 Free Fighter, #2, #5.


Hollywood Park Race 8 {American Handicap~G2~1 mile~Turf~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A super high quality field of seven will go to the gate in this Turf mile.  Sensational speed willl be evident from the start.

#7 Sydney's Candy (Rosario / Sadler) should move to the front from the outset.  He has the fourth highest last out speed number at a longer route and three superb workouts.  This will be the horse to beat.
$2 SHOW.

#4 The Usual Q.T. (Espinoza / Cassidy) will challenge with the third highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three strong workouts.  He will be closing swiftly in the stretch.
$2 SHOW.

#6 Goldwaki [GER] (Blanc / McAnally) will be making his first American start with a decent Euro racing career.  He has put in four fitness building workouts in preparation.  Could surprise as the unknown factor in the race.
$2 SHOW.

#2 Liberian Freighter (M. Garcia / Drysdale) is another speedster that will be in the mix with the highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and three well-built workouts.

Friday's Results
Churchill Downs R10.  Our first pick, The Program, finished 3rd for show money of $3.00.  Our second pick, Ronin Dax, won (1st) for show money of $2.40.  Our third pick, Perregaux, finished 2nd for show money of $3.00.  Superfecta went 1-5-2-6.
Bankroll gets a bump up to $15.75.
