Santa Anita for Stakes Saturday

The final Stakes Saturday of 2011.  It should be a great one.

Santa Anita Race 8 {La Brea~G1~7 furlongs~3 year old~fillies~Stakes}
A superb field of nine will make the start in this annual.  With one clear favorite and several worthy challengers, this race will be an exciting one.

#2 Turbulent Descent (D. Flores / Puype) will be the favorite and appears ready to fill that role to maximum effect.  She holds the highest (tie) last out speed number and has put in four robust, peaking workouts.  She is the one to beat.
$2 WIN.

#3 May Day Rose (M. Garcia / Baffert) will provide some of the speed in the race.  She has a win at this distance with the second highest speed number.  Her last out speed number is the third highest (tie), has a three race progression, and has put in four excellent, peaking workouts.  She will need to hold off the trackers and closers.
$2 SHOW.

#8 California Nectar (Berrios / O'Neill) appears to be ready to contend with the fourth highest last out speed number at a longer sprint and one peaking workout.  She is two for two at this distance.  This gal could surprise and deserves our bronze horseshoe.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#7 Great Hot (Sutherland / Avila) will be a contender with the fifth highest speed number at the distance and four fine, peaking workouts.  She loves the Santa Anita course.  Certainly expect her to be in the mix.
