Furlong Friday at Aqueduct

A little better weather in New York as we look at a nice Maiden Special Weight sprint for our Furlong Friday.

Aqueduct Race 6 {6 1/2 Furlongs~3 year-old~Fillies~NY~Maiden Special Weight}

A nice field of eight will go to the gate in this Maiden race for New York breds. These young ladies are still learning the sport and a few will be forwardly placed to churn up the pace. There are two First Time Starters which have every chance to win on debut. Others in here have speed numbers that are somewhat close. No matter, these races are always highly competitive.

#8 Queen Apollo (McCarthy / Asmussen) has the edge with the highest last out speed number in her first start and two superb, peaking workouts. She should be forwardly placed and could wire this field. With formidable connections, she looks well primed to break her maiden here.
$2 SHOW.

#6 Scorpion Bowl (Alvarado / L. Rice) will challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number and one solid workout. She also should be battling on the front end seeking position for the run to the wire.

#3 My Lightening Strike (D. Davis / Levine) should show improvement in her third start with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and three sturdy workouts. This gal is a daughter of Mineshaft so look for a hearty performance from her.

#4 Sunshine Gal (Carmouche / C. Baker) is a first time starter that looks well prepped for her first visit to the races with three quality workouts. Her trainer, Charleton Baker has a 19% strike rate with his debut runners.
