Stakes Saturday at the "Spa"

On this Stakes Saturday we take in a fantastic grade one race up at the "Spa".

Saratoga Race 8 {Whitney~G1~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A great group of eight will go to the gate in this annual grade one. There should be enough speed to carry the pace forward as the track is now listed as fast. Speed numbers are fairly close. There are four millionaires in this years contest. It should be a super exciting race to wager and watch.

#1 Tapwrit (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) appears to be primed and ready to run a supreme race with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number at a longer route, a two race progression, and two sound workouts. This millionaire son of Tapit, should be tracking the pace ready to roll into the stretch.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#6 Diversify (I. Ortiz  / Mott) will pose a mighty challenge with the highest last out speed number at a longer route, a three race progression, and one bullet workout. He will be part of the speed scenario and could wire this field. A millionaire son of Bellamy Road, he leads this group with wins at nine.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#8 McCraken (B. Hernandez / Wilkes) has improved with each of the three races he has run this year. This guy should take another step forward with a couple of very good last out speed numbers, a four race progression, and two hearty peaking workouts. A son of Ghostzapper, he should be closing gallantly turning for home.
#1 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#2 Backyard Heaven (Castellano / C. Brown) should be in the hunt as he runs in his first race over the Saratoga oval. This guy holds the second highest speed number over dirt and has put in four sharp peaking workouts. A son of Tizway, he is 80% in the money from five career starts.

#7 Good Samaritan (J. Ortiz / Mott) looks to be ready for battle with a couple of very good last out speed numbers, a two race progression, and four robust workouts. He is another that will close swiftly with the right pace. This guy is a course and distance performer. A millionaire son of Harlan's Holiday, he has the second highest speed number at this distance.
