Superfecta City at the Other City by the Bay

 Wishing you the very best Christmas.

On the eve before that wonderful day, we look in on a terrific Turf race for the youngsters at that other glorious Florida track.

Tampa Bay Downs Race 8 {1 1/8 mile~TURF~2 year-old~Maiden Special Weight}

A lively field of ten will hit the green in this lucky last maiden race.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

Only three of these young lads have raced three times or more. One will make his first start in this longer Turf route. Speed numbers are fairly close with one having hit the posted race rate for this contest. Interestingly, only three have raced over the Tampa Bay course. All will be stretching out to this distance. It should be a fantastic race to cap off the card.

#4 Attrayant (Vargas / Leman) should track the pace closely and spring into the stretch. He holds the highest last out speed number and one peaking workouts. This colt is the only one in the field to have hit the board over the Tampa Bay course. A son of English Channel, he is 33% in the money from three starts.

$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#8 Gran Yaco (Centeno / Avila) is the favorite with the third highest last out speed number and two efficient workouts. He will stretch out in his sixth start. He has beneficial tactical speed. A son of City of Light, he is 80% in the money from five starts.

#10 Oishi (Marin / Ochoa) will track the pace in his second start. He holds the second highest (tie) last out speed number and one solid workout. This colt finished fourth in that start over the Tampa Turf. A son of Divisidero, he should do well with good Jockey / Trainer stats.

#1 The Hero Code (Castanon / McGaughey) will make his second start also. This guy will be making the surface switch from dirt to Turf. This guy has the pedigree to enjoy the surface and cover the distance. A son of Tapit, he will close gallantly.

Other Wagering Interests

#6 Spinning Heart (Cedeno / M. Robertson) is another that will switch from dirt to Turf in his second start. He should track the pace. This gelding scored a decent speed number over six furlongs and has put in four superb workouts. A son of Hard Spun, he will excel on the surface and at this distance.

#7 Poliglota (Quinonez / R. Garcia) is the only first time starter in the field. He has a reasonable workout tab in preparation for this race. A son of Not This Time, he is well intentioned for this surface and distance.
