Stakes Saturday under the Twin Spires

 On a spectacular Stakes Saturday with quality races across North America, we look in on a special race down in Kentucky.

Churchill Downs Race 10 {Iroquois Stakes~G3~1 mile~2 year-olds~Graded Stakes}

A slightly reduced field of eleven will go to the gate in this annual race with Kentucky Derby 2025 points on the line.

Significant speed should produce a sizzling pace in this race. Speed numbers are very close as all these youngsters progress in their racing career. Only two have gone this distance while the rest will stretch out. Interestingly, four of Not This Time's prodigies will load into the gate. Six runners in the field have raced over the Churchill track. It should be a fabulous race to get a first look at some of crop that will try to get their footing on the Kentucky Derby trail.

#8 Magnitude (Gaffalione / Asmussen) looks for the win in his second start over the Churchill oval. He comes in with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and four superb peaking workouts. This colt could show speed or be taken back for a swift run through the stretch. A so of Not This Time, he holds a 50% win rate from two starts.

#6 Strummin (C. Torres / Hancock) is the most experienced runner in the field having tackled this distance twice. He shares the fourth highest last out speed number and holds one solid workout. He should track the pace ready to roll. A son of Flameaway, he is 83% in the money from six starts.

#2 Giocoso (Graham / Desormeaux) is another that has already hit the board at this distance. He holds the second highest last out speed number at a longer route on the TURF and has posted four strong peaking workouts. He should track the pace closely. Another son of Not This Time, he is 66% in the money from three starts.

Back to Kentucky Downs on Superfecta Sunday

 Staying on at Kentucky Downs we take look at a fine Stakes race for the three year-olds.

Kentucky Downs Race 10 {Global Tote Gun Runner Stakes~1 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Stakes}

A great group of eleven will hit the challenging KY Downs course in this feature race.

There is enough speed to develop a swift pace. Speed numbers are very close making it super competitive. Only three have raced over the Kentucky Downs course. All are well experienced over the Turf and at the distance. It should be an extremely good race on a day of great racing across the continent.

#4 Army Officer (Dettori / B. Cox) comes in from Saratoga with three solid workouts. He holds the highest speed number at the distance. Look for him to track the pace closely and spring into the stretch. He loves the Turf and the distance. A son of Not This Time, he is 72% in the money from seven starts.

#8 Brilliant Berti (B. Hernandez / DeVaux) is the deserved favorite coming in from Colonial Downs. He holds the third highest last out speed number and two sound workouts. This colt will track the pace and strike in the stretch. A son of Noble Mission [GB], he is 80% in the money from five starts.

#12 Neat (Alvarado / Atras) comes in from Saratoga seeking his third win in a row. He has one race over the Kentucky Downs course. This guy is another that will track the pace closely. A three-race speed fig progression adds to his luster. A son of Constitution, he holds a win rate of 66%.

#10 Depiction (I. Ortiz / DeVaux) is another with a three-race speed fig progression. He is dropping in distance with four strong workouts. Look for him to track and close swiftly. He is coming in from Churchill Downs. A son of More Than Ready, he is 42% in the money.

Stakes Saturday at Magnificent Kentucky Downs

 On this Stakes Saturday we look in on a fantastic Turf battle at that unique track, Kentucky Downs.

Kentucky Downs Race 10 {Kentucky Turf Club Stakes~G2~1 1/2 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A swell field of ten will hit the course in this annual contest.

This talented field will do battle at long distance over the adulating course. There is enough speed to produce a swift pace. Speed figs are fairly close. Six of the entrants have experience over the Kentucky Downs course. Two millionaires are in the field. Three will be trying this distance for the first time. It should be one of the many exciting races run at Kentucky Downs.

#11 Chief Little Rock [IRE] is a European invader that will engage the domestic horses. Last seen at Ascot {GB} where he was an also ran at this distance. Powerful international connections give him a slight edge. This colt should race close to the pace ready to strike. A son of Galileo [IRE], he is 85% in the money from seven starts.

#2 Integration (Carmouche / McGaughey) is the deserved favorite with the highest last out speed number and two strong workouts. This lad will stretch out to the distance. #4 Get Smokin' (De La Cruz / M. Casse) will contend notching a win at this distance in his first try. He will show speed battling for the lead with another. Holiday Racing Monday up in Canada

 Happy Labor Day or do you say Labour Day as in Canada. On this Holiday Monday we take in an exciting Turf stakes up in Ontario.

Fort Erie {Puss N Boots Cup Stakes~1 1/16 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Stakes}

A modest field of nine will hit the green in this annual contest.

Past Performances used:  Equibase.

There is plenty of speed on the inside to keep this group rolling. Speed numbers are fairly close making it a competitive race. All but one have raced over the Fort Erie Turf. Most have acquitted themselves well over the Fort Erie course. It should be a fine course on a day with a good deal of action across the North American continent.

#9 Four Aces High (Pinto / Simms) is the deserved favorite with the second highest (tie) last out speed number at this very distance. He should track the pace closely. Winning at this distance last time out should enable him to improve on that effort. A son of Old Forester, he is 45% in the money from forty-two starts.

#4 Wilberforce (Moreno / Ceccato) will challenge with the highest last out speed number and one stout workout. He loves the Turf, distance, and course.
