 On this Stakes Saturday we turn to the Keystone State for a superb Pennsylvania Derby.

A grand field of eleven will go to the gate in this annual contest.

There is plenty of speed in this one to formulate a sizzling pace. Speed figs are fairly close with only one horse hitting a triple digit Beyer. One millionaire makes an appearance along with a couple near the cusp of that milestone. Only three have raced over the Parx oval. All are experienced at the distance. It should be one of the best races on a card stocked full of good races.

#8 Unmatched Wisdom (Prat / C. Brown) holds the highest speed number at the distance and has two stout workouts. He should be forwardly placed near the pace ready to spring into the stretch. It will be his first race over the Parx track. A son of Cairo Prince, he has a 75% win rate from four starts.

#11 Stronghold (Fresu / D'Amato) comes in from Indy with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and four strong peaking workouts. He should track the pace closely seeking to strike in the stretch. This will be his first run over the Parx oval. A son of Ghostzapper, he is 87% in the money from eight starts.

#7 Dragoon Guard (Geroux / B. Cox) is the deserved favorite with the highest (tie) last out speed number and four powerful workouts. He will be seeking his fifth win in a row while showing tremendous speed. Another with his first attempt over the track. A son of Arrogate, he is 100% in the money from five starts.

#4 Timeout (Rosario / Mott) comes down from Saratoga sharing the highest last out speed number and four solid workouts. He should benefit from a hot pace with his tracking capability. This guy will try the Parx dirt for the first time. A son of Curlin, he is 100% in the money from five starts.

#5 Protective (I. Ortiz / Pletcher) is another coming down from Saratoga with a good last out speed fig at a longer route and three hearty workouts. He loves the dirt and distance. Another tracker looking for a proper set-up. A son of Medaglia d'Oro, he is 72% in the money from seven starts.

#10 Uncle Heavy (M. Sanchez / Reid) should race well over his home track. He shares the fourth highest last out speed number and has put in one diligent workout in the last thirty days. This colt will be part of the tracking crew ready to battle in the stretch. A son of Social Inclusion, he is 50% in the money from eight starts.
