A Little Tune-up Before the Breeder's Cup

Thursday, the start of an outstanding horse racing weekend.  The Breeders Cup begins tomorrow where the World's best horses, jockey's and trainer's will converge at Churchill Downs to battle for superiority.  The field's will be large and the finishes will be full of heart pounding excitement.

As a little tune-up for the weekend's festivities we will look at a tremendous Turf stakes race at Churchill Downs.

A high quality field of nine will make the start of this race.  Rahystrada (Gongalzes / Hughes) is the one to beat with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four athletic, peaking workouts.  Battle of Hastings [GB] (Rosario / Fox) looks ready to challenge with the highest speed number at the distance, and four well-built, peaking workouts.  Ready Set (Theriot / Werner) could surprise with a decent last out speed number and two solid workouts.  Midnight Mischief (Leparoux / Mott) looks strong with the second highest (three-way tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and three hearty workouts.  Expansion (Bridgmohan / Asmussen) will be in the mix also with the second highest last out speed number and three stellar workouts.  Let's play Churchill Downs on the eve of the Breeder's Cup Championships.

Churchill R10.  Our first pick, Gran Lioness, finished 4th.  Our second pick, Switching Gears, finished 7th (last).  Superfecta went 3-5-1-4.
Oak Tree at Hollywood R7.  Our first pick, Turning Top [IRE], finished 3rd for show money of $2.80.  Our second pick, Westwood Pride, finished 2nd for show money of $3.80.  Superfecta went 1-2-7-5.
Bankroll dips to $11.60.
