Opening Churchill's Fall Meet

A great Sunday for the opening of Churchill's fall meet.  The Breeders Cup is only a few days away and you can feel the excitement brewing on this crisp Halloween day.  Today we look at a Juvenile Stakes race at Churchill and a nice mile Turf stakes race at the Oak Tree meet at Hollywood Park.

Churchill Downs Race 10 {Pocahontas~G2~1 mile~2 year old~fillies~Stakes}
A great group of seven gals line up for this annual race.  There is parity in this race and any one of these gals is capable of being victorious.  Gran Lioness (Theriot / Calhoun) may be the surprise with the highest (tie) speed number at the distance albeit on Turf, a three race progression, and two strong workouts.  Another that could surprise is Switching Gears (Gomez / Margolis) with the highest (tie) speed number on the dirt surface, the third highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and two hardy workouts.  Days Like This (Albarado / A. Dutrow) could also surprise coming off a longer route with improving speed numbers and two distictive workouts.  Honey Chile (M. Baze / Catalano) will challenge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two stellar workouts.  Also in the hunt for the win will be Dancinginherdreams (Leparoux / J. Ward) with her one race posting the second highest last out speed number on synthetic and two quality workouts.  Let's play wonderful Churchill Downs.

$2 SHOW:  #4 Gran Lioness.
$2 SHOW:  #6 Switching Gears.
10 CENT Superfecta:  #4 Gran Lioness / #6 Switching Gears / #2 Days Like This / #7 Honey Chile, #3 Dancinginherdreams.

Oak Tree @ Hollywood Park {Las Palomas~G2~1 mile~Turf~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Stakes}
An equally matched group of eight will go to the gate.  Turning Top [IRE] (Blanc / Callaghan) holds a slight edge with the highest last out speed number coming off a longer route, a two race progression, and two solid workouts.  Westwood Pride (Bejarano / Mulihall) will challenge sharing the highest last out speed number, holding a five race progression, and three well-built, peaking workouts.  Blue Maiden [GB] (Rosario / Mandella) looks exceptionally strong with the third highest (tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and three athletic, peaking workouts.  Wynning Ride (M. Garcia / Baffert) will surprise with the second highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and four tremendous, peaking workouts.  This will be her first race on grass, but she looks well prepped for it.  Let's play the Oak Tree at Hollywood Park.

$2 WIN:  #7 Turning Top [IRE].
$2 SHOW:  #2 Westwood Pride.
10 CENT Suprefecta:  #7 Turning Top [IRE] / #2 Westwood Pride / #4 Blue Maiden [GB] / #5 Wynning Ride.
