Turf Stakes Saturday

We go to the Turf on this Stakes Saturday.  Looking in on a couple of excellent Turf contests; one on the beautiful Belmont Turf and another on the fine Kentucky Turf.

Belmont Park R9 {Garden City~G1~1 1/8 mile~TURF~3 year old~fillies~Stakes}
A strong field of seven will venture onto the grass in this one.  It comes up light on speed thus making it a race that may be run in the Euro-style with a quickening in the final turn.

#1 Tannery [IRE] (Lezcano / Goldberg) looks more than ready to make her American debut with some very excellent running in her native Ireland.  She is working a three race progression with some very good racing post ratings.  This gal should run well off the short freshening.
$1 WIN / $2 SHOW.

#3 Samitar [GB] (Dominguez / C. Brown) will challenge with the second highest last out speed number and four highly robust, peaking workouts.  She should find herself close to the pace lurking for the run in the stretch.
$1 PLACE / $1 SHOW.

#2 Open Water (Nakatani / Guillot) should be in the hunt with the third highest last out speed number and one quality workout.  She is one that should track the pace looking to strike at the top of the stretch.
$1 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#6 Karlovy Vary (Leparoux / Arnold) could find herself forwardly placed with the highest speed number (among the American horses) at the distance and three stellar workouts.  She is coming off a brief freshening which should aid her effort.

10 CENT Superfecta

#1 Tannery [IRE] / #3 Samitar [GB] / #2 Open Water / #6 Karlovy Vary.

Kentucky Downs Race 9 {Kentucky Turf Cup~G3~1 1/2 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A solid field of eight will make the start in this annual Turf battle.  The loan speedster in the race could have the run of the ground.  It will be a very exciting race.

#2 Ioya Bigtime (Sanchez / Block) could be the speedster that controls the pace to victory.  He holds the third highest last out speed number at a longer route and has put in two athletic workouts.  He has a victory at this distance with a triple digit speed number.
$2 WIN / $2 SHOW.

#3 Rahystrada (Lanerie / Hughes) is coming into this one in fine form with the second highest (tie) last out speed number and two diligent workouts.  He could be the favorite having a victory over this challenging course.
$2 SHOW.

#4 Lake Drop (Bridgmohan / Motion) should improve in his second North American start.  He has the fourth highest last out speed number at a longer route and has put in one hearty workout.  He is a proven long distance runner in races in Italy.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#6 Tahoe Lake (Cohen / McPeek) looks the part of a strong challenger sharing the second highest last out speed number and putting in a modest workout.  He holds the highest speed number at the distance.
