Horse Racing Weekend Begins at Gulfstream

We missed our Superfecta Sunday this past week due to a technical glitch. For this coming Sunday, in the immortal words of the late great "Mr. Cub", Ernie Banks, "Let's play two!"

Today we hit snazzy Southern Florida for a classic Turf stakes race for the gals.

Gulfstream Park Race 8 {Savannah Jane Stakes~1 1/2 mile~TURF~4 year-old Up~fillies/mares~Stakes}

A wonderful field of seven will engage in battle over the Turf. There is NO speed. It likely to be contested much like a Euro race in which a tremendous quickening will occur going into the stretch run. Speed numbers are fairly close, though only three in the field have gone this long distance. It should be a good race.

#5 Maximova (Bravo / Clement) should be the favorite and deservedly so. She has already scored in two of her four runs at this distance. This gal holds the highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and four robust workouts. She could be in the first flight heading for home.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#6 Cay Dancer [GB] (Castellano / C. Brown) should be the chief challenger with the second highest last out speed number and three solid workouts. She shares the highest speed number at the distance. This gal should be another in the first flight heading for home.

#3 Walk Close (Rosario / Clement) should contend with the sixth highest last out speed number and three superb workouts. This girl has race twice at this distance, but has failed to hit the board. Perhaps the third time will be the charm. Expect her to close well.

#2 Achnaha [IRE] (J. Velazquez / Weaver) should contend as well. She holds the third highest last out speed number and four strong workouts. This gal has struck close to this distance, capable of stretching out another furlong. She should be in the first flight barreling home.

10 CENT Superfecta

#5 Maximova  /  #6 Cay Dancer [GB]  /  #3 Walk Close  /  #2 Achnaha [IRE].
