Late Start to our Horse Racing Weekend

Furlong Friday opens our horse racing weekend as we take a look at a downhill Turf race in Arcadia, California.

Santa Anita Race 7 {6 1/2 furlongs~downhill TURF~4 year-old Up~Allowance}

A solid field of ten will launch down the Santa Anita hillside Turf course. There is a smattering of speed to keep things interesting. Speed numbers are all fairly close giving a certain competitiveness to the race. It should be on of the more exciting races of the day.

#1 Hawkedon (Bejarano /Puype) may have an edge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two robust workouts. This guy also has an impressive 62% in the money record coming down the hill. He should track the pace and strike going into the stretch.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#4 Zuri Chop [FR] (Desormeaux / Sadler) should provide a mighty challenge with a couple of good last out speed numbers, a three race progression, and four solid peaking workouts. This lad should be forwardly placed seeking to get first jump on the leaders heading into the stretch.

#10 Hot Market (Prat / Mathias) is coming off an extended layoff and has worked very well landing four superb peaking workouts. Prior to his vacation, he was working a six race progression and was in solid form. This lad is 100% in the money from six career starts.

#6 Incline Village (Gonzalez / Koriner) should contend with a couple of quality last out speed numbers and two hearty workouts. This guy is the speed of the field and could provide a wire job. He loves this downhill Turf course hitting the board 63% of the time.
