Horse Racing Weekend begins on the Turf

The unofficial ending of summer allows to move fluidly into our Horse Racing Weekend.
Today we look in on that great boutique meet at unique Kentucky Downs.

Kentucky Downs Race 9 {Old Friends Stakes~1 mile 70 yards~TURF~3 year-old Up~Stakes}

What began with a full field of twelve has dwindled down to seven in this highly competitive Turf contest. It has enough speed to keep a strong pace over this course. Speed numbers are fairly close. It should be another exciting race to start our Horse racing weekend off.

#12 Thatcher Street (Landeros / Wilkes) has the edge with two in the money starts over this rambling course. He holds the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three robust workouts. This lad should track the pace closely and spring smoothly into the stretch run.
$2 WIN  /  $3 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#1 One Mean Man (B. Hernandez / Flint) should challenge with the third highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and one superb workout. He has run over this course successfully and should track closely.

#5 Sir Dudley Digges (Gaffalione / Maker) should contend with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number at a longer route and two strong peaking workouts. He has the tactical speed to stay the course and find a path to the wire.

#11 Chocolate Ride (Geroux / B. Cox) could wire this field. He shares the fourth highest last out speed number and has put together four solid workouts prepping for this race. This guy holds the highest speed number at the distance.
