Let's Start Our Horse Racing Weekend in NY

To start our horse racing weekend we look in on "Big Sandy" for a competitive maiden claiming sprint.

Belmont Park Race 9 {6 furlongs~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Maiden Claiming}

A nicely bred group of ten gals will hit the Belmont dirt in this last race on today's card. There are a few in here that should show some speed with a couple of first time starter's who will unfold their racing style. Speed numbers of those that have run are reasonably close. Some excellent pedigrees are represented in this herd making for a superbly exciting race.

#9 Seam (L. Saez / Pletcher) looks to be the overwhelming favorite as she drops in from Maiden Special Weight competition. This gal holds the second highest (tie) last out speed number at a furlong longer sprint and has put in one durable workout. She should track the pace and put on the afterburners coming into the stretch.

#10 Paula's Pistol (Franco / Nevin) is a first time starter that has put in a strong workout tab of four peaking works. This gal is a daughter of Mineshaft.  Trainer, Michelle Nevin hits with 11% of her first time charges. With some good favorites carrying little wagering value we have to go with this filly for the dividend.
$1 SHOW.

#1 Fortunate Queen (I. Ortiz / R. Rodriguez) will be one of the favs in this one with a couple of in the money performances last out and three solid workouts. This will be her first start at Belmont, but she is 75% in the money at this distance from four tries. This gal is another tracker who will make a rush into the stretch.

#5 Christmas Sky (H. Diaz / Gullo) is the other first time starter in the field. Trainer Gary Gullo joins his first time starters in the winners circle 15% of the time. A daughter of Bodemeister, this gal has put in two sprinty, peaking workouts prepping for her debut. She is another we will chase a dividend with.
$1 SHOW.

10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)
Yes, we will try to putty together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket. Ordinarily, we like to play this on Sunday and high value races, but this is an interesting Maiden Claiming race.

#9 Seam  +  #10 Paula's Pistol  +  #1 Fortunate Queen  +  #5 Christmas Sky.

Superfecta Sunday (9/24) Results
