Stakes Saturday on New Jersey Turf

On this Stakes Saturday we take a look at one of the premiere Turf races of the summer along the Jersey shore.

Monmouth Park Race 11 {United Nations Stakes~G1~1 1/8 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A wholesome field of eight will hit the grass in this annual premiere race. There is some speed to keep the pace rolling. Speed numbers are relatively close which should make it quite competitive. It should be a fascinating race.

#1 Bigger Picture (Bravo / Maker) looks to add to his large bank account with the second highest last out speed number at a longer Turf route and three superb peaking workouts. This well traveled lad loves the Monmouth course and the green in general. A son of Badge of Silver, he should be tracking the pace closely and spring into the stretch.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE.

#2 Channel Cat (L. Saez / Pletcher) should be one of the principle challengers with the highest last out speed number and two speedy peaking workouts. This lad should relish the "good" going as he continues to improve with each race. A son of English Channel, he should be forwardly placed ready to get first jump on the leaders heading for home.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#4 Focus Group (J. Ortiz  /  C. Brown) will contend and may go off as the favorite with the third highest (tie) last out speed number and four sensational peaking workouts. This guy has stroked two wins from three starts at this distance. A son of Kitten's Joy, he should be part of the tracking group ready to roll smoothly into the stretch.
$1 SHOW.

#8 Monarchs Glen [GB] (Lezcano / Mott) should be in the mix with a couple of good last out speed numbers and two gallant peaking workouts. This will be his third North American start. A son of Frankel [GB], he is yet another that will be part of the tracking crew.
