Final Races of 2010

On the eve of a new decade we look at the final two races of 2010.  A stakes race at Aqueduct and an Allowance feature at Fair Grounds.

Wishing everyone the very best in the New Year.  May it be a profitable one for all.

Aqueduct Race 8 {Alex M. Robb~1 1/16~3 year old Up~NY~Stakes}
A quality New York bred field of eight will go to the gate capping off a wonderful year of horse racing.  Manteca (Cohen / Pletcher) has the very slight edge pressing the pace with the third highest last out speed number prior to a sixty day freshening and four terrific workouts.  He is very solid at this distance being 88% in the money. Icabad Crane (Maragh / Motion) will be one of two to challenge with the highest (tie) last out speed number and two strong workouts.  Ruffino (Luzzi / Bond) will also challenge sharing the highest last our speed number, a five race progression, and two solid workouts.  Giant Moon (Dominguez / Schosberg) will be in the fight for a nice share of the purse with a decent last out speed number and three athletic workouts.  Let's play the "Big A", Aqueduct for the final time this year.

$1 WIN / SHOW:  #6 Manteca.
$1 PLACE / SHOW:  #4 Icabad Crane.
10 CENT Superfecta:  #6 Manteca, #4 Icabad Crane / #6, #4 / #1 Ruffino, #8 Giant Moon / #1, #8.

Fair Grounds Race 8 {1 1/16 mile~3 year old Up~Allowance}
A fabulous field of eleven will make the start in this competitive allowance feature.  Pistols At Dawn (Albarado / Margolis) holds an edge with the second highest (3-way tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and three hearty workouts.  Sicomoro (Graham / Roussel) is the better half of a coupled entry and hopefuly will make the start.  He shares the second highest last out speed number, has a three race progression, and three well-built, peaking workouts.  Guarded Entrance (Lanerie / McGee) will challenge the other two with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two hardy workouts.  Letsgetitonmon (Bridgmohan / Asmussen) was a derby hopeful earlier this year and has struggled.  We are not ready to give up on this fella as he does have the second highest speed number over the surface and has put in four sensational, peaking workouts in preparation for his last race as a three year old.  Let's make a good effort for our last Fair Grounds foray of the year.

$1 WIN / SHOW:  #11 Pistols At Dawn.
$1 PLACE / SHOW:  #1 Sicomoro.
10 CENT Superfecta:  #11 Pistols At Dawn / #1 Sicomoro / #8 Guarded Entrance, #2 Letsgetitonmon / #8, #2.
