Stakes Saturday at Saratoga

A Stakes Saturday during summer would not be the same without Saratoga.  Today we take a look at two exceptional graded stakes at that beautiful track.

Saratoga Race 9 {Diana~G1~1 1/8 mile~inner TURF~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Stakes}
A powerful field of six gals will take to the turf in this excellent race.  The speed is to the inside in this one and if it heats up, it could help the rallying run of a closer.

#3 Zagora [FR] (Dominguez / C. Brown) looks ready to run after a 60-day freshening.  She holds the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four hearty workouts.  She could come a closin'.
$1 WIN / $1 SHOW.

#6 Hungry Island (J. Velazquez / McGaughey) will challenge sharing the third highest last out speed number and putting in two pure workouts.  You have to love this horse as she has only been out of the money once in her thirteen race career.  Another closer seeking a good pace to run into.
$1 PLACE / $1 SHOW.

#4 Dream Peace [IRE] (Leparoux / Collet) is a well traveled gal that has a stellar record racing overseas.  She is coming off a longer Turf route and is heading into the third race of her form cycle.  She is fresh and should demonstrate a splendid closing kick.
$1 SHOW.

No 10 CENT Superfecta Offered.

Saratoga Race 10 {Jim Dandy~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year olds~Stakes}
A highly competitive field of eight will make the start in this annual race.  It appears to be evenly divided between the forwardly placed and those who run from off the pace.  Any one of these could win.  It should be a very exciting race.

#7 Liaison (M. Garcia / Baffert) has a minute edge with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three supreme workouts.  This guy could track the pace and close mightily.
$1 WIN / $2 SHOW.

#1 Alpha (Dominguez / McLaughlin) will challenge with the highest speed number at the distance, a decent last out speed number at a longer route, and four furious workouts.  This guy is proven over the Saratoga track and will use that to his advantage.
$1 PLACE / $1 SHOW.

#4 Neck 'n Neck (Goncalves / Wilkes) should also challenge with the highest last out speed number and two robust workouts.  He should be able to stay close to the pace a release a strong run in the stretch.
$1 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#8 Prospective (J. Velazquez / Casse) should be in the mix with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three athletic workouts.  He is another that could be close to the pace ready to jump into the fray at the final turn.
