Stakes Saturday Santa Anita Style

Stakes Saturday is here. Today we look at a Turf mile at beautiful Santa Anita.

Santa Anita Race 5 {California Cup Oaks~1 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~fillies~CA~Stakes}
An improving lot of eight Californian fillies will take to the grass in this stakes feature.  There is plenty of speed which should make for a rapid pace. The speed figs for these gals are relatively close. It should be a fantastic competition.

#4 Heat the Rocks (Trujillo / Hollendorfer) might have a slight edge with the fourth highest last out speed number and five outstanding peaking workouts. This filly will be hitting the TURF for the first time, but has the pedigree as a daughter of Unusual Heat. She should be sitting right off the pace ready to spring into the stretch.
$2 WIN  /  $3 SHOW.

#6 Light One (Bejarano / Hollendorfer) will challenge with the third highest last out speed number and three superb workouts.  This filly should be tracking the pace ready to strike at the top of the stretch. She is another that will take to the green for the first time. As a daughter of Comic Strip she is coming off two very good performance over the Tapeta at Golden Gate Fields.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#3 Swiss Skimmer (Alvarado / Specht) should contend with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and three strong peaking workouts. She has already traveled this distance twice and has been in the money both times. This daughter of Swiss Yodeler should be forwardly placed ready to score.

#7 Tribal Express (A. Quinonez / Knapp) could be in the mix while motoring on or near the front end. She holds a couple of decent last out performances coupled with a bullet workout. This gal has already hit the board in her one try at this distance. As a daughter of Lucky Pulpit, she should race well.

#4 Heat the Rocks  /  #6 Light One  /  #3 Swiss Skimmer  /  #7 Tribal Express.
