Stakes Saturday at the Fair Grounds

The road to the 2016 Kentucky Derby begins in earnest today as we take in a tremendous grade three in good old New Orleans.

Fair Grounds Race Course Race11 {LeComte~G3~1 mile 70 yards~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A solid field of ten Kentucky Derby aspirants will saunter over to the gate in the hopes of grabbing some much needed Derby points. There is some speed that should get a modest pace going. The speed numbers are fairly close, but with those embarking on their three year-old season, improvements leaps can happen at anytime. It should be a great and exciting edition of the LeComte.

#5 Dolphus (B. Hernandez / Sharp) might take another step forward today with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two sound workouts. This lad has already landed in the money in his two career starts over the Fair Grounds track. A son of Lookin at Lucky, he should be forwardly placed ready to rush into the stretch.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#10 Pinnacle Peak (Geroux / Stidham) should challenge as one of the more experienced runners in the field. He shares the highest last out speed number, has a three race progression, and has put in two robust workouts. This lad earned that high speed number winning over the Fair Grounds track. A son of Yes Its True, he has the tactical speed to blend into the pace.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#3 Uncle Walter (Mena / Maker) will contend with the second highest last out speed number at a long sprint, a two race progression, and four superior peaking workouts. This guy has world class connections which will make him considerably appealing at the mutual windows. A son of Uncle Mo, expect him to track and close gallantly.
$1 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#13 Destin (Leparoux / Pletcher) should be able to improve going longer for terrific connections. He appears to be in good form hitting the board in his two career starts. Coupled with two superb workouts, he should be in the mix. A son of Giant's Causeway, he should be forwardly placed close to the pace.

#7 Mo Tom (Lanerie / Amoss) is capable of running down this field with the second highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and four stellar workouts. He is coming out of a grade two that happened to be a longer route. Another son of Uncle Mo, he could require some pace to run into.
