Stakes Saturday in Texas

On this Stakes Saturday we take a peek at a late one, observing a classic Turf race in the great state of Texas.

Sam Houston Race Park Race 8 {John B. Connally Turf Cup~G3~1 1/2 mile~TURF~4 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A great group of nine Turfers will make their way to the gate for this classic Turf distance. There is limited speed signed on which might make for a controlled pace. Those that have traversed this distance have all done well and will be the favorites. The balance of the field will be stretching out for the first time. Speed numbers are relatively close. It should be a very exciting night race.

#6 Big John B (Rosario / D'Amato) comes in from California ready to run. He holds the highest speed number at the distance, a couple of very good last out speed numbers and three endurance building workouts. With the right pace he should be able to close this field down. A son of Hard Spun he holds fourteen career wins.
$2 WIN  /  $3 SHOW.

#8 Kaigun (Bravo / Casse) will challenge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two solid peaking workouts. This lad is the only millionaire in the field and should hold favoritism. A son of Northern Afleet, he should track the pace closely ready to spring into the stretch.
$2 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#5 Da Big Hoss (Geroux / Maker) should contend with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three hearty peaking workouts. This guy has the second best in the money record at 73%. A son of Lemon Drop Kid, he should close gallantly.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#7 Pumpkin Rumble (Murrill / G. Scherer) should take another step forward while stretching out. He holds the fourth highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three robust workouts. A son of English Channel, he should track and close with relish.
